McCelland Guild of Artists, Inc.

Description

Just around the corner from Frankston North, in the grounds of the McClelland Guild
of artists, is the studio of the McCelland Guild of Artists.  Two self-help groups a
week plus classes in various art meduims taught by expereinced artists keep the
studio buzzing.  Monthly demonstrations on the first Saturday of the month from 1:30
- 3:30 pm showcase the talents of artists from all over Victoria, and all-day
workshops with these and other artists allow for further development of your skills.
Children and youth have their own classes concentrating on building basic skills
with various materials.

All classes and demonstrations are open to members and non-members, and children and
youth classes are held at times convenient to school schedules.

We have a new inititvie starting here.  There is a new star in town, Allan Wilde, and we are working to get the Pines Arts Committee going. 

The plan is to come under the auspices of the Anglican Church and to work closely with Monterey Secondary College to start a local theatre group.  Monterey is becoming part of a "networked" Secondary College, and they will be the arts focused school.  Turns out they have a professional recording studio and a theatre in the school that have never been used!  The new Arts teacher there is a dynamo and really wants the community involved.  I

Allan used to be a professional dancer, and he has already planned a community dance at the Soccer Club on May 30th at 7:00 pm with the band at 8:00 pm.  $10 entry, children under 16 free.  He has booked "Jeannie Lushes and the Blues Boys", billed as R&B, Blues, and swing. 

He is also holding "Pines Rock and Roll Dance Classes" on Thursday nights at 7:00 pm at the soccer club, starting May 7th.  Gold coin donation.
